◆06:00 (UTC-5) January 18, 2017
- End of game service
At last, to express our deepest thanks to players who love Quiz RPG: The World of Mystic Wiz.
This news isn't really surprising, seeing the game barely had development in the last couple months, or even a year. In addition of that, several COLOPL's overseas (non-Japan) mobile games were closed/announced to be closed prior to this news, so it was kind of expected to happen.
If you have any unfinished business in the game, try to do it one to three days before the end of service date to be safe. The wiki will still be open for everyone even after the game closes down later.
Gedelgo for founding the wiki. This wiki wouldn't exist without him/her in the first place!

Last but not the least, thank you for reading this thread.
Yup, it's that time of the year again. At 0200 Sunday, March 13th 2016, Wiz is going to time travel the server time forward 1 hour to 0300 because reasons (seriously, I don't get why DST exists). So for anyone who still cares and doesn't live in North America, get ready to move your book farming forward an hour. Or if you've grown completely dependent on the front page (like me), the time should automatically adjust, but if you notice any bugs, leave a post here.
Citadel Lorencio was added on March 6th. The quests provide considerable challenge even to veteran players. To name a few, the fodders have skills like Full Lock, Shave and Poison that are rarely present in previous areas.
The latest invocation renewal date was February 13th.
Game Features
There were no new game features. New game features usually need application updates, and the last update was March 6th, the day when Citadel Lorencio was added, along with the removal of Facebook Features.
Foreword
Well, that's it. You can draw your own conclusions about the game this year, but one thing for sure: the amount of new events and revisited events are not exactly balanced.
How will the game perform in 2016? Only time will tell.
Christmas!Bernadette is a new entry in this event, while the other 5 guild masters were available during last year's event (Gift from Santa Revisited).
In this event, they have their own quest, including in-quest transcripts. If you missed, or want to reread the transcripts, you can read it in Christmas with the Guild Masters/Transcript.
From the Spirits Index in the game and Michaela's new 4 hidden powers, it can be concluded that there will be a new quest-type event. This event will most likely the only new quest-type event this year.
It is named "天界の双子 訣別のクロニクルの" in Japan version of the game. Google translates it as "Chronicle of heavenly twins Parting".
Yup, we get a new event. It's Twins of the Heavens: Separation! The events lasts from December 28th, 2015 - January 7th, 2016 (EST).
Foreword
Well, that's all we get so far. Have a good time (holiday), everyone!
Now where can I find the real Santa in Quiz RPG...
I figured it's a lot of work to announce some big updates at once, so I decided to create a thread where admins can announce anything about the wiki or the game easily. This is not the in-game News Log.
This thread is closed to prevent comments from non-admins (sorry!). Admins can reopen this to announce something, and then reclose this again.
If you'd like to announce something, feel free to contact any admins (admins list).
The announcements are listed from earliest to latest (ascending order). Each reply represents a day.
The Spirit Infobox template has gone through quite large changes since May 18th, 2015. This announcement serves to let you know what the changes are. It is the result of Spirit Infobox Design at the General Discussion Board, and some more updates along the way.
About the Template
The Spirit Infobox template is a template used by this wiki to show a spirit's information in their respective page. As most pages of this wiki are spirit pages, this template is very important.
Basically what we can see on the infobox in a spirit's page. The ones that'll be listed below are the major updates. For a complete update list, visit Gallery in this page. This section contains little to no technical stuff.
Additions
Added the spirit's name and title at the top of the infobox
Added the total HP & ATK increase and DC reduction from hidden power in the respective tooltip. Hover on the underlined stats in a spirit page to see it.
Added several page links at the bottom of the page. They're as follows.
Similar Spirits: Other spirits' link with the same combination of two criteria. The criteria are Element, AS, and SS.
Pages: The spirit's particular index page and "Pages that link here". Ever wonder who has a certain spirit? Visit "Pages that link here" and see who might have them as listed in their profile.
Templates: Quick access to maintain the spirit's additional info. Evo Switcher to determine the rank of an evolution material (especially useful for cannibal spirits) and InvokePool for updating the availability of Crystal Invokes.
Changes
Reduced a lot of unused blank spaces.
Changed the background color to be brighter.
Made all section headings collapsible (able to be shown/hidden with a toggle). To do that, click/tap the section headings. With this feature, the infobox can get really small. See the image to the right.
Changed how the evo indicator looks. It now glows if the spirit's evo is at its maximum (see the image on the right). While this seems to have lost its in-game-looks appeal, there's another reason for the change. It'll be explained in the next section.
Was:
Now:
^ The glow is white, Fire spirit background is used as example.
Relocated "Obtained from" and "Related Events" to under the spirit's evolution info. Also added a "How to Obtain" section heading for them.
Changed how the evolution materials is presented. It follows the convention of Title | Content, instead of Content alone.
Mobile Support
This was the only purpose of the updated like I mentioned in Thread:67545#Purpose. But, "This could use an improvement." and "Hmmm, it's a bit off..." that made the updates possible up until now.
So, what is it about? It's about the skin. Mobile devices use the wikia mobile skin by default, while desktops use wikia skin a.k.a. oasis by default. The only skin that was supported in this wikia, especially for the spirit infobox, was oasis alone. This makes the infobox in wikia mobile skin looks different a lot from oasis skin.
The support for mobile means to make the infobox look the same for both oasis and wikia mobile skin. However, due to the different natures of desktops and mobiles, there are few deliberate differences.
The infobox width Desktop: Fixed at 410px wide. Mobile: Variable with a maximum limit. It's set to stretch up to 620px wide (enough to place all 8 evolution materials in a single line), and there's no hard minimum width although ~288px seems to be lowest possible width without the need of horizontal scrolling (which is bad if it does). Fixed width won't do good for mobiles as they lean to be dynamic (different screen resolutions, portrait & landscape device orientation, etc.), while desktops lean to be static.
Stats title Desktop: Right aligned. Mobile: Center aligned. Reason: Right-aligning the text on a wide horizontal space would make it feel empty on the left side.
Spacing to the outermost borders Desktop: Normal. Mobile: Narrow. To support small mobile screen.
No underlines on stats with a tooltip. The tooltips themselves are still present.
Bigger font size. It's natural for mobile to have bigger font size than desktop. Wikia follows this too.
No Collapsible Sections (Wikia doesn't support it for mobile)
Try It Yourself
Desktop
User:Alxnr/sandbox8 - The previous version of the infobox. (Yes, that's my sandbox and it may be deleted later)
Mobile
No need to actually use the mobile site version of the wiki. Simply add "?useskin=wikiamobile" to the end of the URL of any page to view it using a mobile skin of the page only for that instance, or as long as "?useskin=wikiamobile" is present in the page URL.
It's recommended to open them in a new tab as they're very large images.

Desktop-Mobile Ver. Comparison
The next two sections contain technical stuff. If you'd like to skip them, you can jump immediately to the Questions section.
Wikia Code
The code that makes up the template. The changes to the Infobox template, other new templates to support the infobox, and everything related to them will be explained here. This section contains wikia technical stuff.
Overall template code differences can be found here.
Code 1: Placement - Table Rows
As VO mentioned here, there was a misplacement of the opening code of a table row ("|-" or "{{!}}-"). It was something like
While the previous code placement didn't cause any trouble, the end result could be unpredictable because "{{!}}-" can be immediately followed after the same code. e.g. "{{!}}- {{!}}-".
Code 2: Spaces Reduction
The purpose is remove the unneeded spaces although most of them aren't displayed. Using an example above...
Code 3: CSS Class instead of inline CSS
This is to support mobile skin, as inline CSS do not work for them. But CSS classes do, although a workaround is needed. The wiki's CSS needs to be updated if we want to add a new style for the infobox.
New Templates Stats Related
Several templates were made to calculate the stats increase/reduction from hidden powers. They're based on similar templates made by Foxhead128.
If there's a new evo number (say, 7), then the only thing we need to do is update the template. There's no need to crop a screenshot of the evo indicator of the game.
Technical stuff I found during updating the Infobox. Some of them might not be 100% true as I didn't test them thoroughly.
As the infobox uses a workaround for supporting mobile skin, the effects of the styling only applies after the page has finished loading when using the skin. Better than nothing, I guess.
There are several skins available in wikia (more than the ones mentioned above)
Desktop
Wikia skin / oasis: The default skin
MonoBook: Can be switch to in Preferences. Test any page with this skin by appending "?useskin=monobook".
Mobile
Wikia Mobile / wkMobile: For non-article pages. For viewing spirit infobox with this skin, visit User:Alxnr/sandbox7.
ember-view: For article pages
The infobox supports oasis (duh), wkMobile and ember-view skins, but not MonoBook. At least yet.
Turned out MonoBook supports inline CSS.
About ember-view skin:
It auto-resizes all images with 48px (its original size) (width/height/pick the least?) or smaller to 20px (its height, it seems). This is annoying as all images of evo indicator icons' dimension are below it, and they're all resized to 20px, which is toooo small.
IT also auto-resizes all images with more than 48px (its original size) (width/height/pick the least or most?) to the size of its container. This is actually pretty nice as we can make it static or dynamic. It's the reason why the spirit's icon is bigger in Mobile - Max Width than Mobile - Narrow. See Gallery - Desktop-Mobile Ver. Comparison above.
About Wikia Code - Code 2: Spaces Reduction, this is meant to reduce the number of data downloaded by viewers (end users). With a space, it's something like "<td> Visible content here.</td>". Without it, it's like "<td>Visible content here.</td>". One character saved for every instance of it.
Questions
There are some things I'm not sure of.
Should we keep/remove the spirit's name and title?
Keeper's opinions: An infobox without a title isn't complete; It enables us to use the infobox independently without being in its page. (This can be solved with an optional parameter)
Remover's opinions: It's redundant as the spirit's name & title have already been shown as the respective page name.
Should the background color be readjusted (again), especially for thunder spirits? Any suggested colors? (Reverted back for Fire and Thunder spirits. The one for Water spirits stays.)
Fire BG Comparison #310003 to #300003
Water BG Comparison #010D26 to #000630
Thunder BG Comparison #302208 to #302E00
Your Feedback
Any opinions regarding the spirit infobox updates?
You might be confused of the title since it's kinda technical; I will explain it.
What Happened
Around July 25th, 03:00 AM (UTC), for ~30 minutes, when a page had finished loading in this wiki, the browser took the users to an inappropriate external website automatically without any warning ("redirect"). It happened to almost all pages.
Who Experienced It
Anyone who browsed this wiki within the aforementioned period was a possible victim for this. If it was the first time the person browsed* this wiki, then it's most likely that s/he got the redirect.
* Using a different device or browser or both.
How It Happened
Previously, on July 24th, ~07:00 PM (UTC), I added a UTC clock** located at the right top of the page. You might have noticed it already before I mentioned it here. It looks like "01:28:51 PM | July 28, 2015 (UTC)" above the Contribute button. The clock appears in almost all pages of this wiki.
8 hours later, I used my mobile device to browse the wiki. There, I experienced the redirect. I first thought it was the ads that caused it, but no, ads only appear on the main page for registered users.
Then I suspected it was the clock I added earlier, so I reverted my edit, and browsed with my computer. Curiously, it didn't happen anymore at that time for a while, so I added back the clock.
Early today, I found the reason it happened. The clock script was vandalized: Someone inserted a malicious code to redirect users to an inappropriate website. The script was free to be edited by anyone, so it's possible that anyone did that. The reason I browsed this wiki normally while using my computer is the vandalism had been reverted.
Recently, it was vandalized again, and then protected when I was typing this announcement. In fact, there's a vandalism spree (don't blame Matsuri) that has been going on on the dev wiki. The dev wiki announcement is here.
Counter Measure
To avoid this to happen again, I decided to copy over ("migrate") the safe clock script to this wiki (located here) so that it doesn't directly rely on external sources; meaning we can personally control the scripts we use. The clock script is free to be copied, and even modified, so there's no copyright issues here.
The migration process had been done before the clock script was protected, but I'll stick to the migration anyway as it's safer.
This section is perhaps mostly intended for the other and future admins of this wiki.
Apologies
I'm really sorry if you experienced it. It was an oversight on my part. I'll be more careful from now on.
Okay, that's doesn't sound like a convincing apology... :/
Created on the 2nd of May, 2015, the RTS page contains a lot of spirits reviews posted by a number of dedicated wikia contributors. Some talk about spirits in an event, some other talk about spirits with similar to identical skills. Some of them even compare them historically. Credit goes to Masqueraid for taking the time to collect them all.
Try to read one or two reviews if you haven't. Those are good reads.
New Features/Contents
Two-category Search Page
Officially named and located in Category Intersection, the feature was mostly brought up to attention by Pipefoxes. As the title says, it allows us to find pages which have both categories we search for. While it's only limited to two categories, it's already good enough to find spirits with similar skills. e.g. AS & SS Combination.
To enable the Category Intersection special page in a wiki, you have to request the wikia staff.
Auto-generated "Similar Spirits" links for all spirits*
Being able to search two categories at once is a nice thing, but typing the categories name itself can be a boring, repetitive task. The solution? Auto-generate the links in the spirit infobox! Because it's the most accessible place for the links to sit in.
Introducing the new "Similar Spirits" section at the bottom part of the spirit infobox. *Except for Unobtainable Spirits, all spirits now can have up to 3 auto-generated categories search links when applicable. They are listed as follows.
Link text
What it does
AS & SS
Search all spirits** of the same AS (Answer Skill) and SS (Special Skill) of the current viewed spirit.
Element & AS
Search all spirits** of the same Element and AS of the current viewed spirit.
Element & SS
Search all spirits** of the same Element and SS of the current viewed spirit.
**Actually searches all pages in this wiki, but the result will be only spirit pages anyway. Also, the number of pages is limited to 200.
Requested by some people through the chat, some new emoticons for the chat have been added. You can see the full list of the usable emoticons of the chat here, and the newly added emoticons here,
Please don't abuse them too much in the chat.
Features Changes/Improvements
Auto-generated "Events" submenus on the wiki navigation
Because the wiki navigation menu can only be edited by admins, the Events menu can be outdated if the admins are away when there's a new running event or expired event. To solve this, the "Events" menu now uses auto-generated submenus under it, and is renamed to "Active Events".
The Category:Active Events has been made to mark currently-available events. The wiki will get the list of all pages under the category, then put it under the "Active Events" menu. Because clicking/tapping the "Active Events" menu will take you to the category page, the Events page link becomes a submenu of it.
Previously
Now
Pro: Less maintenance of the navigation menu.
Con: (1) Take more time to access the Events page, especially for mobile users. (2) "Active Events" categories have to be maintained.
If it's proven to be more troublesome than helping, it can be reverted to the previous state upon requests.
It's similar to spirit infobox, but it only contains the most important info of a spirit. It is a small, "floating" box that only shows up when certain spirit links (e.g. The evo link in the spirit infobox) are hovered by the cursor, or touched (for touchscreens).
Changes are made to the content and design. The most notable difference is it now has the Max HP/ATK of a spirit assuming all of its hidden powers are unlocked. You can see the differences below.
I've added a new feature to the wiki: Template:InvokePool for keeping track of invocation renewals. Updating the template will change all the spirit page's availability sections and will update the table on the Crystal Invoke page.
That means no one has to go through all the evos and change "|Availability = Removed" anymore.
I made a Wiz favicon because the current one is a little blurry. I like the current one too, but in case anyone likes this. Its also slightly animated for firefox browser. Wiz is so cute >A< <3
So one of the things that was planned for a while now was a redesign of the wiki, mainly the background. Is there anything that you guys like/dislike about it? Transparency is probably one of these big ones that should be looked into, so how do you guys feel about it? Is there anything distracting or hard to read after the change?
As many of you know, Gedelgo has been absent for over a month now and doesn't seem to be coming back any time soon. Therefore, Sleepy Pikachu has asked the Wikia Community team to grant her the rights necessary to appoint new admins. As part of the request, the guidelines state that it is necessary to start a discussion with the current active editors to see if everyone is in favor of her new assignment. Sleepy Pikachu probably should've started this thread, but I think she missed that part of the requirements and this discussion needs to be open for at least 7 days, so I'm starting it now. Just leave your approval/disapproval here, so that we can bring this matter to a speedier conclusion. I was the one who suggested she ask in the first place so where I stand should be obvious.
The table of Spirits has been modified to update automatically using a bot that takes information from the individual pages. This means that all you have to do to update the table is to add the name and wait for the bot to update. (We don't have a set schedule yet)
This method couldn't handle the whole thing at once so that page has been chopped into event and non-event. The page was getting unweildly long anyway.
A big shout out to DeProgrammer for making this happen
The new numbering system has been added to the infobox along with some tweeks to the layout.
Also, categories will now be added automatically. If anything is entered into the "related event" parameter then it will auomatically be set as an Event Exclusive. If you see anything odd going on check the infobox template for oddities or for outdated manual categories.
Thanks to help from Turbo012 and Hanzou-sama, we've added a new feature to the wikia. You can use the Tooltip Template to make a hover pop-up with a short review of any spirit. For example:
Two changes; one that everyone will notice and one that hopefully no one will.
All the spirit icons are being updated to files that Zwwright has so wonderfully taken directly from the game cache. This means (hopefully) that no one has to make icons ever again. The old icons are in the process of being replaced and deleted.
The old method of putting evo requirements on the infoboxes has changed. The multiple templates have been merged into one called Template:Evo Switcher. Changing the way these are displayed is still on my to-do list. I'd like to overlay the rank directly onto the icon.
I've been hard at work recoding the Spirit pages, the infobox mainly. There's a number of new things going on within the infobox.
Experience worth: The parameters "exp given at lvl 1" and "exp given at max level" can be used for fodder spirits. They don't appear unless filled in.
Event Relation: Use "related event" to indicate where an event exclusive spirit came from. This is also hidden unless filled.
Skills: Two new templates (with awful formatting) called Answer Skill Portal and Special Skill Portal automatically fill in the skill description of the common skills (ex Hard Rush). If the skill isn't in those templates then you have to input the descriptions manually using "answer skill description" or "special skill description" . If the spirit has no skill just put in "None" and the description section will automatically disappear.
Evolution: You only need to input the name of the evolution stages and evo material. There's a series of templates to do the rest of the work for the evo materials. Found here.
Aside from the infobox, there's five new templates:
Template: Spirit Poll - creates a poll if you input the Spirit's name. Try to reserve these for Spirits that are actually OK (everyone knows that the fodder spirits suck).
Template:Leveling Header and Template:Album Header are not crucial but if we ever want to make the headers nicer, like with a pretty banner, then we can change these templates instead of every page.
crystal and gold like the element type templates
The new format for creating pages, or changing old ones, is updated on this blog post and when creating a new page with the standard layout.
Remaining issues
Visibility of link text (blue on blue, red on red)
Special evo section for single evos
Getting rid of the extra spaces at end of the infobox
Clean up of evo material templates (perhaps use the icons with rank in corner)
Here's some tips and guides for things that people tend to have trouble with. Don't worry if you can't get everything right. That's what the admins are here for!
I highly recommend a few things before you begin.
First, if you've never edited a wikia before, look at the Community Central help pages. They have really easy to understand guides on how to all the basic wikia stuff.
Second, use the source code! The graphical interface is nice for simple stuff but can get messy and frustrating - especially with pictures. Also, the site code is a mix of CSS and MediaWiki's unique language. If you can't find an answer by googleing for "Wiki _____" then try "CSS _____".
Making a New Spirit Page
If you're not using the New Visual Editor (which you should NOT be doing), click "Contribute" in the top right corner of the screen, then click on "Add a page" in the drop down menu followed by Standard Layout. You can also click a link to a page that doesn't exist and select "Standard Layout". You can change your editor mode in your preferences.
For convenience, you can also copy and paste the code from this post into an empty page in source mode. If you're using the New Visual Editor, you'll want to do your editing in source mode.
Fill in what you can
Remove what shouldn't be there. Don't forget the extra rows on the leveling table.
Go to the "evo requirement" parameters and simply input the name. Very simple.
The names need to be spelled correctly. If you're lazy like me then copy and paste them from here.
Getting Icons
We're (supposedly) using a special way to make the icons on the wikia. They've been taken directly from the game files. You may have to dig around to find the latest batch. Find the required icon, give it a proper name (<Spirit Name> Icon.png), and upload it.
See the How to Add Icons page for more help as well as a zip file of all of the icons up to the posted date.
Using Element Icons
The element icons are actually templates. Their code looks like this
By using the templates we can keep all the icons the same and change what every icon on the wiki looks like, or links to, just by editing the template.
I'm the admin for the Dino Dominion wikia, another COLOPL game, and had the irresistible urge to start a wikia for this game. I've literally just started playing so I should grant a couple people with more experience the admin position too.
I'm thinking the wikia should have info for the spirits, locations/quests, and help for the quiz questions.
